About Kristianne
Kristianne Buxo is a self-taught visual artist from the island of Grenada, deeply rooted in her heritage and identity. Her work is a vibrant fusion of acrylic paint and mixed media, through which she channels the sensory richness of Caribbean life—flora, folklore, color, rhythm and memory.
She is known for her bold use of color, rhythmic dot work and pointillism, and compositions that bridge between representational imagery and abstract forms. Her signature elements include repetitive patterns, gold flecks, and motifs from Grenadian nature, tradition and people.
Artistic Philosophy & Statement
Through her art, Kristianne seeks to preserve and honour elements of Grenadian culture that are at risk of fading with time. Nostalgia, folklore, and elder stories all feature prominently in her inspiration as she explores what it means to be West Indian.
She views her art as a celebration of sensory experience: the flamboyant hues of tropical plants, the undulating accent of speech, the movement of dance and music, and the warm golden light that bathes her surroundings. Each piece is an attempt to capture the cadence of both nature and people—vibrant, rhythmic, alive.
Key Exhibition & Works
“Vivid”, Kristianne’s first solo exhibition, was hosted by Laluna Art Project on 22 November 2024. There, she presented major works from her Vivid Series, including large‐scale paintings under various “Vivid Series” titles as well as special pieces like Flamingo and Market Lady works.
The Laluna Art Project space serves as her gallery platform; it supports local artists by showcasing their work and provides that 100% of the sales go directly to the artist.
Her work has also been featured regionally. For example, one painting titled “Surge” was part of the CARIFESTA XV “Caribbean Roots, Global Excellence: Visual Arts Regional Exhibition” in Bridgetown.
